Well boys, somebody call the fire department. Except don't, because I found the chief. Up for sale is a vintage Taiyo Fire Chief C-703 battery-operated toy car, made in Japan.

This old Fire Chief has clearly been around the block a time or two, which is exactly how I like'em. Red and white body, FIRE CHIEF graphics, number 703, chrome-style wheels, blue-tinted windows, and that big red emergency light sitting on top like he's got somewhere IMPORTANT to be.

I work around dumpsters for a living. Everything thinks it's got somewhere important to be until I show up with the dumpster. The underside is marked MADE IN JAPAN and carries the Taiyo maker's mark. The battery compartment is designed for UM-1 1.5V batteries.

We have not installed batteries or attempted to operate it, so we make absolutely no representation as to whether the motor, light, or any other battery-operated function currently works. Cosmetically, this is an unrestored vintage toy showing honest age and use. There is dust/dirt, surface wear, scratches, scuffs, discoloration and other age-related wear throughout.

Please inspect all photographs closely-they're part of the description and show the actual car you'll receive. We have not cleaned or restored it because collectors of old toys tend to have opinions about that sort of thing, and I already get enough opinions at work.

This thing is cool as hell. Made back when a toy could probably survive being run over by the family station wagon.

That's America right there. Except it was made in Japan.

Hell, you know what I mean. Update: Somebody apparently parked the Fire Chief in the Play-Doh sometime during his career. I don't know what emergency he was responding to, but judging by the evidence, the suspect was approximately six years old.
