Vintage Schuco Examico 4001 Wind-Up Tin BMW 328 Car Red Works w/ Key W Germany. Length: about 5.5 in (14.5 cm). Width: about 2.5 in. Vintage Schuco Examico 4001 key-wound tin toy car in glossy red, based on the iconic BMW 328 roadster.

This is one of Schuco's most beloved "driving school" cars: wind it with the key, then use the dashboard shifter to run through four forward gears and reverse. Underside is clearly marked Schuco-Patent-Auto 4001 / Schuco Examico 4001 / Made in Western Germany. A fantastic collectible German tinplate car that displays beautifully and operates as intended. Model: Examico 4001 (Patent-Auto 4001). Vehicle: BMW 328 roadster style.

Mechanism: wind-up / clockwork with gear-shift driving feature (4 forward gears + reverse). Materials: tinplate metal body, metal chassis, rubber tires. Color: red body, black base, red hubs. Markings: Schuco badge on rear; base text includes "Made in Western Germany". Country of manufacture: West Germany.

Works properly: wind-up motor runs and the driving/gear-shift function operates correctly. Cosmetic condition: good vintage playwear. Paint shows scattered chips, scuffs, and small rubs (notably around grille/front edges and a few body high points). Metal trim has light age toning. Tires look intact with typical age wear.
