Vintage King Size Tonka Truck Tin Toy. Mercedes Actros 4 Friction Car Carrier
This is a Tonka truck known as the king-size car carrier... It has been fully customized to look like a Mercedes actros. The prime mover has chrome logos on the doors & grille, even all the wheels have merc hubcaps.
Color is flat black (not shiny black) & it is not a perfect paint job... The old factory paint still lies beneath. The front windscreen is yellow & possibly turned this color due to age or heat? The prime mover now has a front bull bar which is shown in the updated photos 1,6,7 & 11... Now looks more & more like the gigaspace Mercedes actros truck as it supposed to... Just needs a light bar on the roof to top it off! The trailer has also had a freshen up since these photos were taken... Now with with pinstripe on the sides & non working lights on the back, see photo 7? The ramp is supposed to have a lever to manually open & close the upper ramp but this is missing & does not affect the function.The upper ramp doesn't stay up when the rear gate is down... But when the gate is up...
It holds the upper ramp up in place. A consignment of 4 Mercedes Benz 300-SL friction cars... This car has been replaced with another good (silver) one.
All the cars were produced by luxe, they all have noisy whizzing sound friction motors that work well. The truck measures a huge 27 inch long (30 inch with the rear gate down)... Each car measures 9 inch long. Some photos show 2 red cars but you will. 1 red & 1 blue.With all these improvements (extra time & overhead) that has been spent on this display since the photos were taken...
