VINTAGE D. P. CLARK AMERICAN HILL CLIMBER TOURING CAR FRICTION TOY Cast Iron

TWO SEAT HILL HILL CLIMBING FRICTION TOY AUTOMOBILE CIRCA 1898. Hard to find with all three original people. The toy is made of wood, pressed steel and cast iron. Toy has some play and age wear. See pictures for more details on condition.

I believe the plate on the back was probably added by the original owner. The toy uses a flywheel drive and it remains strong. Was first founded in 1898 and was the first to use a heavy cast iron flywheel on friction drive Hill-Climber toys. William Schieble, a partner in the company bought out Clarks half of the company in 1909 and changed the name to Schieble Toy and Novelty Co.
