Tin Friction Late 50's Lincoln Convertible Car W Driver Dog Ichiko Kanto Japan
For sale is a vintage tin friction late fifties Lincoln convertible car with a tin driver and tin dog made by Ichiko/Kanto of Japan. The car measures 7 1/4 inches or a little over 18 centimeters long and it is in complete, very good/excellent condition. The car features a tin driver with his dog companion; the box (not included) titled the toy "Look Who's Driving". The car is one of many comic cars made in the 50's and 60's by Japanese makers that combined a recognizable car with a whimsical driver or passengers. The car is in very good/excellent, lightly played with condition. The terrific orange/red paint has a nice gloss and the paint is in excellent condition. There are a few small scratches and chips in the paint and I saw a couple of tiny touch ups but the paint is overall in terrific condition. There is a littl darkening in the car's interior, nothing serious. The chrome trim is bright and shiny with no darkening. The car still has its original windshield. The celluloid has thickened and yellowed just a bit but there are no cracks or breaks. The car has all four original hubcaps and excellent tires and a base with almost no wear.

The friction motor works very well. When the wheels are in motion, the doggy bounces up and down in his seat. There is supposed to be a barking sound (it is really like a squeak) but there is no noise from the car. There is a little paper bellows in the car that often loses it sound over the years.

This is a great tin friction car in excellent condition. This example isn't perfect but it is a really nice example that would look great in any tin collection. Questions are welcome and I will be happy to provide additional photos.
