You can see both dings in the first photo. The battery case is very clean; one of the tabs that holds the battery cover has broken but it does not affect the running of the racer or the way the battery case holds the batteries. The race car takes two D batteries and it works very well. The two back wheels spin like crazy and the two lights on the front of the racer light up.
The back left wheel is a little loose on the axle but when I put the racer on the floor, it ran fine. The angle allows the racer to move in a wide circle. The red and green light flashes but they do not stay lit. I don't know if that is the way the car was designed or if the connection of the two lights needs work. If you hold the on/off switch on, the lights will stay lit. This is a really great looking racer; the image of the two panthers and the dynamic silver and red color scheme really make this racer stand out. It is a beautiful tin racer, listed on page 217 of the great Big Book of Tin Toy Cars Commercial and Racing Vehicles.
