TIN BATTERY COIN OP 1955 CHEVROLET CHEVY TAXI YELLOW CAB CAR ICHIKO KANTO JAPAN
The car measures a little over 9 inches or 23 centimeters long and it is complete and original. The car is in good, played with condition. This is surely one of the most beautiful cars ever made in Japan. The colors are bright and vivid; the color combination of yellow, red and a muted green is gorgeous. The paint is in very good condition overall but there is a stain in the paint on the front of the car that you can see in photo #10.
I was able to get a lot of the stain off, but the outline still remains as well as a small part of the stain on the right side of the car. Apart from that the paint is in very good condition with a very nice surface gloss to the paint and the beautiful colors mentioned above. The chrome trim is bright and shiny with only a very small amount of darkening. The tires and beautiful hubcaps are in excellent condition. The light on the top of the car works. The car takes one D battery and when you put the battery in the taxi sign on the top of the car lights right up. You should be able to put a penny in the front of the car and that should start the car, the coin is the on/off switch for the car. The coin does not seem to work with this car, the coin should drop through the car and you should be able to open the "bank" case on the base of the car and retrieve the penny. For some reason the penny gets hung up and never drops all the way through. Even so, this is a beautiful car. It looks great just as it is or could be fixed up and look maybe even greater. The car is listed on page 139 of the wonderful Big Book of Tin Toy Cars Commercial and Racing Vehicles. Questions are welcome and I will be happy to provide additional photos.
