One of the founders/ owners of the German toy maker Tippco, was Philip Ullmann, who was forced to flee to England in 1933 because he was Jewish. Together with Arthur Katz he had some space offered by Bassett-Loke. Where he began manufacturing toys to raise funds for other Jewish refugees. Shortly after this, he founded the Mettoy toy company.
