Extremely rare and in near mint condition in its original box with all original packing, late 1880's Wilkins of Keene, NH, cast iron tank car for their large scale floor train. The cast iron tank car measures 13 5/8 long. It has all original paint and only a few paint chips on wheels like it occurred when it was painted originally. According to Rick Ralston from his essential and definitive masterpiece Cast Iron Floor Trains: Wilkins made some of the finest, most handsome trains in the field. Its long slender locomotives, particularly the large ones, were undoubtedly the most accurate and close to scale ever produced.

I will leave that decision to the new owner. I have done nothing to this. There are no cracks or breaks in the train and obviously no repairs. The tank is red with gold trim and gold lettering. The original heavy cardstock box measures 4" x 5 1/4" x 14 1/2" and has its original label on one end reading "Wilkins Model Tank Car No.

The box is in excellent condition with no splits or punctures and just lightly soiled from years of storage and is complete.
