This listing is for a very, very cute Japanese made tin-wind up Fireman's patrol car. This is the "Bump N Go Chief", made in Japan by K.
Company, an acronym for a toy company whose actual name escapes me at the moment. The car is in very nice all original condition, a small miracle when you take into consideration its age and relative fragility of its moving parts. The car winds up via a small "L" shaped handle which protrudes from its base, which activates a spinning center disc which contains two small wheels which actually make contact with whatever surface its placed on. This disc turns back and forth, thus providing the "bump n go" action. Additionally, the drivers arms are actuated by this same mechanism, which allows him to turn the steering wheel back and forth. Really a very cute little toy. The car retains most of its original paint, just showing a few minor blemishes from play wear, along with a few spots of light surface rust on the front bumper, which would probably clean off relatively easily, however I'm offering this great little toy AS IS / AS FOUND. The toy measures 6 ½ inches long x 3 inches wide. The driver is rplete with his helmet, and the car also retains its plastic steering wheel, windshield, and even an intact hood ornament. The rear passenger side of the car is marked w/ the maker's logo K. O" in a diamond shape, along with "Made in Japan. I believe this toy dates to the late 1950's or early'60s, and remains in very good shape for a toy of its age.If you're a collector of vintage Japanese tin or even Fire Department related toys, this adorable little guy will be a must-have.
