ICHIKO Japan Tin Friction 1953 Pontiac Fat Car With Driver 14 Excellent Cond. Here is a large and impressive 14" long tin friction Pontiac "fat car, called so because of the chunky style of the toy. Made by Ichiko of Japan in the 1950s, the car is a close representation of a 1953 Pontiac Chieftain. Ichiko called this car a Lincoln on the box cover, but I think most tin collector's will agree it looks more like a Pontiac. This stunning example is exceptionally clean and in excellent condition with all parts intact. I have had this car for a very long time. Has always been displayed in a dust free case with tires supported up off the glass to keep them from getting flat spots. The gorgeous Roman red finish is mirror smooth, showing only one minor ding in the left front fender. Only a few small paint chips are visible on the otherwise pristine finish. Glossy black base has only very minor wear.

Polished trim all shines like chrome with no tarnish or corrosion. The middle of the back bumper does exhibit a dent. Colorful litho interior with large separate metal steering wheel is a delight to see. This is the hard to find version with tin litho driver intact.

Friction motor runs long, strong, and smooth with great siren motor sound. Tires are all flawless with no cracks or flat spots. This model has the desirable painted litho hubcaps and whitewalls versus the more common plated versions. Front wheels are poseable in either turning direction or straight ahead.

Attractive clear amber head lights and green plastic tail lights are pristine. Plastic window "glass" is all crystal clear and still held firmly in place. These big cars are are becoming harder and harder to find, especially in this magnificent original condition. Another outstanding investment grade car.
