BIG 30's ENGLAND METTOY BOAT TAIL RACING CAR TINPLATE WIND UP TIN TOY no tippco

LARGE SIZE TIN TOY CAR. METTOY SLEEK STYLED SPORTS CAR. "MADE IN ENGLAND", SO NICE EARLY VERSION (later models are marked "made in Gt Britain").

Very much influenced by the quality German Tippco vehicles of the time..... Made shortly after the former owner of Tipp & Co, had fled to England and set up Mettoy.

TINPLATE CONSTRUCTION, WITH DETAILED TIN LITHO FINISH. CAR STILL HAS THE WINDOW FRAME / WINDSHIELD (OFTEN MISSING) AND THE LITTLE STEERING WHEEL. CLOCKWORK / WIND UP MECHANISM........ With a careful winding, the spring tensions and the rear axle spins.....

Placed on surface, car will still move, with typical wheel play & wobble. ORIGINAL DUNLOP FORT TINPLATE WHHELS.

Nice old vehicle is now some 80+ odd years old, so displays with some expected natural age / play wear...... Surface marks, scuffs, chips, scratch, litho age lines etc... Looks like it might have had odd little touch up about the rear end.

Wheels are a bit loose and worn at centre axle holes. Underside is nice and tidy. (please see images for actual condition).

STILL LOOKS GOOD SITTING ON A SHELF. I've added all the images i can to hopefully show the honest/accurate condition...
