Another big and extremely hard to find Japanese tin car by Ichiko with the original box. This beautifully styled 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire 4 door hardtop measures approximately 11" long (27.9 cm) by 3 tall (7.6 cm) and 4" wide (10.2 cm). This is a very difficult car to find, and it is almost impossible to find in this condition and with the original box. Ron Smith & William C.
Gallagher lists it as a 9 in terms of rarity in "The Big Book of Tin Toy Cars". The colorful lithographed interior coordinates nicely with the turquoise body the pale cream roof. All of the tin trim including bumpers, grill, windshield trim and hubcaps are original and in outstanding condition.
There is a very small scratch on the drivers side rear fender, but it is hardly noticeable. Everything about the car is original, and in very nice condition. The rubber wheels are nice and show little wear.
The lithographed hubcaps are outstanding. The base plate is clean and original. The friction works, as it should. Both end panels of the old and fragile box have been replaced along with about a 1 (2.54 cm) piece in both side panels. The plain cardboard bottom of the box is new as well. The box has been shrink wrapped in order to preserve it. This car displays beautifully and would be an upgrade for almost any collector lucky enough to have it in their collection.
