1960 Buick Invicta 17.5 Highway Patrol Car with Original Box by Ichiko NR

Another outstanding Japanese tin car with the original box by Ichiko. This beautifully styled 1960 Buick Invicta 4-door hardtop Highway Patrol car measures a huge 17.5" long (44.5 cm) by 5.5 tall (14 cm) and 6.5" wide (16.5 cm). This is a very nice car that is totally original. The colorful lithographed Highway Patrol graphics are very nice and look great with the red, white and blue litho interior. The two roof lights swing back and forth with the friction movement and work just as they should.

The car also features an antenna, however it is probably a replacement. The trim is very nice and the celluloid in the windows is original. Tires and hubcaps look like new. And of course the baseplate is outstanding.

There are a few minor touchups on the car and a couple of larger ones (see photo 3) in the red litho on the passenger side. There are thin striations under the lithography on the hood and trunk that are hardly visible and do not detract from the beauty of the car. The original box lid has been reinforced from the bottom and there is old paper tape residue on the corners.

Boxes for these larger cars just didn't seem to survive. This is a hard to find car that in my opinion captures the look and feel of the golden age of Japanese tin cars.
