1930's MARX Tin Windup Charlie McCarthy Mortimer Snerd Private Car in Box

This is a very large approx. 17 long tin windup character toy that was made by Marx Toys in the 1930's. Beautifully lithographed large clockwork car that features bump and go bumpers and while the car travels, their heads spin around!

The clockwork mechanism still works great! Comes with the very scarce original box! The box has been relined inside (see last pic), and has had some color touchups in a few spots where it was creased heavily, and does have some overall creasing visible.

The box side has a great graphic of the two driving down a city street (presumably NYC), and swinging their heads as they cruise past two ladies walking down the street! Another side has a narrative by each of them about the car, and the girls they are gawking at!

CONDITION: The clockwork windup mechanism still works great with original rubber pads on the bumpers. The chrome on the grille and bumpers have tarnished with age. The bottom tin plate of the car may have been repainted; it appears too black and has a very shiny pebbly finish to it. There is some overall scratching, mostly where their necks turn. The box has been relined inside and has had some restoration work to the exterior and has some creasing and wear as shown.
