1920's Large 11 Pre-War Japan Tin Windup Clockwork Limousine Toy Town Car
I will be listing a large quantity of high-grade toys over the next few weeks, some from my personal collection. Please watch my other listings for German tin, American tin windups, and other early toys. This is a very scarce and large 11 long tin and painted wood windup impressive scale limousine toy town car made in Japan in the 1920's - 1930's. The clockwork mechanism is a little tight, but does wind some (the spring isn't borken but only turns about once) and moves the wheels a little. I can't find any markings, but most definitely of Pre-War Japan manufacture. A very nicely designed toy that is very detailed and colorful. It features a wooden coachwork body and chassis, tin running boards, lithographed tin wheels, chrome plated grill and headlights and front bumper. The front wheels are manually adjustable to turn in a circle or go straight. Looks like an early Packard type car to me, but not sure of the model. CONDITION: The windup mechanism is a little tight but does work to wind the wheels very slightly, not enough to roll across the floor. There is some light overall scratching and wear to the painted wooden body as shown. THe painted blacj running boards have the most wear.
The chrome is still quite shiny. The item "1920's Large 11 Pre-War Japan Tin Windup Clockwork Limousine Toy Town Car" is in sale since Thursday, October 20, 2016. This item is in the category "Toys & Hobbies\Vintage & Antique Toys\Wind-up Toys".
